The system of making and guessing riddle is one of Chinese traditional culture, which is people’scollective creativity. It helps to improve the intellectual, cultural activities which are beneficial to the bodyand mind. China’s riddle has a long history, many riddles not only has the knowledge and use of languagewhich is also very interesting to make people feel the fun but also it develops intelligence and cultivatepeople’s divergent thinking and logical thinking ability. Many riddles also reflect the charm of the people’scognitive thinking.Riddle used in the metaphor, pun, homophonic, hyperbole rhetoric is from the human languageappears in the language phenomenon, it is the fusion of many language phenomenon, embodying theessence of language and culture, and language directly reflects the people’s way of thinking and cognitive,therefore, it can be said that riddle largely reflect a nation’s traditional thinking and cultural concept.Study the history of Sino-foreign riddle, cultural connotations and its differences will help peopleto understand chinese and foreign cultural similarities and differences from the cultural roots, and toexplore the different ethnic people’s cognitive styles and ways of thinking. Western mode of thinking isfocusing on logical thinking, emphasizing the importance of the analysis. And in the Western linearthinking, material and spiritual, subjective and objective are fully independent, unified world is divided intotwo different worlds,and to the inherent focus on differences and antagonism were analyzed with thisthinking, the world is composed by the fact, rather than ideas, and abstract thinking process in generalanalysis, inductive reasoning and deductive. The similarities and differences between Chinese and British riddles in the analysis helps usto understand western cultures, make adjustments in language teaching, and break better ways of teachingChinese as a foreign language. Built a bridge between different cultures, introduce the riddle to teachingChinese as a foreign language, and find the common point of different cultures, so that students experiencethe collision of two cultures in the process of learning a language, experience different cultures in thelanguage different manifestations, and help students step from their own cultural background into theChinese culture. The introduction of the riddles not only can enhance the fun of the Chinese as ForeignLanguage Teaching Chinese learners to appreciate the beauty of the Chinese, but also inspire teachers tofind the right way in the Chinese language teaching, and proper integration into the traditional culture,using a more appropriate way to foreign students learning Chinese.Riddle is one of the traditional culture of the nation-state of the world, for Chinese learners, theintroduction of the riddle may make class more interesting, compared with the native language of theriddle,it will help students become more aware of the differences of Chinese and foreign cultures, and thusto understand China in the nurture culture.How to introduce the riddle to foreign language classroom in a appropriate way? This paperanalyzes the similarities and differences between Chinese and foreign riddle and the reflection of thecultural connotation, and seek appropriate solutions to introduce riddle into Teaching Chinese as a ForeignLanguage in appropriate way and the most important is to help students more easily learn Chinese andunderstand Chinese culture.
