There are reflexives not only in Modern Chinese but also in Thai languages.There exist similarities, as well as differences.This paper compares the similaritiesand differences between Chinese and Thai reflexives in syntax, semantics andpragmatics.The paper is divided into six chapters:The first chapter is the introduction,briefly introduces the research purpose, significance, content, method and theory,the current situation of Chinese and Thai reflexives.The second chapter compareusage and distributionsto of Chinese and Thai reflexives, applies thesimilarities and differences of grammatical function between these twolanguages.The third chapter compares the syntactic structure of Chinese and Thaireflexives according to Binding Theory of Chomsky, using the corpus to provethat the validity of Binding Principle A in Chinese and Thai, and comparethe thesimilarities and differences of syntactic structure between these two languages.Thefourth chapter applies the Chinese and Thai reflexives’ semantic connotation andsemantic referents from the point of view of semantics analysis, and find out thesimilarities and differences between these two languages,compares pragmaticfeatures, namely logophoricity between Chinese and Thai reflexives from theperspective of pragmatics.The fifth chapter is the conclusion.The comparison and analysis of Chinese and The reflexives, it reaches theconclusion that there exist not only similarities but differences between Chineseand Thai reflexive, using Chomshy constraint theory to explain these twolanguages is effective, but also has its limitations.
