A Study Of The Female Images In Jiang Wen’s Film

Jiang Wen is a Legend figure in China film field, both as an actor and a director, he can be successful illustrated. Although he did not make many films, but it didn’t influence people for his praise highly. As long as film works came out, it caused consequentially a society the agitation of discussion. So far the four films are very typical reflect Jiang’s film styles and characteristics. Obviously, the female characters were created by him, reflecting his consistent the women of a view, which is a kind of Male Centralism’s view of women.This paper uses feminist film theory, by analyzing these feminine images in detail, and to reveal hidden in the film Jiang’s women view. These female characters include the "In the Heat of the Sun ", the Mi Lan and Yu Beibei;"Devils on the Doorstep", the Yu’er;"The sun also rises", the mad mom, doctor Lin and Don’wife;"Let the bullets fly", Mrs. County and Hua elder sister. Through the women for specific analysis and the lens grammar into four categories:the first is the utilitarian women, representative figures are Mi Lan and Mrs. County, with the purpose of their male communication is benefit; the second is wild female, representative figures are Yu Beibei and doctor Lin, their emotional bare, craving for men; the third is dedication female, representative figures are the Yu’er and mad mom, they stick to the traditional female moral standards, giving up everything for the male willingly; the forth is resistance type female, representative figures are Don’wife and Hua elder sister, and they have a certain independent consciousness, but not completely resistance. These non-real female image brightly reflected Jiang’s women view and imagination. He constructed on his heroism kingdom by those female characters, meet the people’s mutual heroism and desire. This kind of unequal gender view is criticized in this paper, and hope this kind of critical is reflection to the creator, making him constantly enrich and improve his creation.
