On The English Translation Of Regulation Documents At The Syntactic Level

The communicating role of translation becomes more and more important as theinternational exchanges become more frequent than before. The MTI degree is set toimprove the communication between China and the rest of the world. What lies before thestudents of MTI is the translation practice which is closely related to the society. In view ofpracticality, the criteria of translation should not strictly follow the paradigms of“faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance”. It should be chosen more carefully andpractically. So it is of vital significance to select suitable criteria from a variety oftranslation theories to guide the practice. The translation practice of United ManagementManual, in which the writer took part, is of high practicability, and it is related to thetranslation of regulation documents. But the writer found that most of the studies on formaldocuments translation focus on documents with high political significance. There are fewarticles specifically discussing translations related to company regulations. English andChinese belong to different language systems，and they have different cultural backgrounds,different thinking modes. They are quite different on syntactic structures. But the way ofthinking is the deep mechanism of language and is embodied in language form. Because ofthis, the process of translation is not only a conversion of linguistic forms but also thechanging of thinking modes. This article plans to analyze the bilingual text from thesyntactic level by way of observation and experiential summary. By analyzing the difficultpoints in the translation process, the author hopes to reflect on the selection and basis oftranslation strategies and to provide some referential strategies for this type of regulationtranslation.
