Narrative Research On Qiu Dongping’s Novels

Qiu Dongping is one of the few revolutionary writers who is active inthe anti-Japanese front in modern literature history, and most of his worksare based on direct battle experiences,which are characterised by narrativefeatures,but currently few scholars in academic circles do researches onthis.This article attempts to study his works from a narrative perspective,exploring the creative features which really belongs to him.This paper is divided into three parts. The first part is mainly on thecomb of Qiu Dongping’s creative road,meanwhile the author proposes hisown view on the argument of "the death of dongping" and textualascription of Qiu Dongping’s works.The second part mainly analyzes the narrative characteristics of QiuDongping’s works before "giver" which was published in1937.Works ofthis period were based on early peasant movement,centering byplot,focusing on narrative of the "thing".He used to use timing strategy,which making the work take on a characteristic of big stories containingshort stories.At the same time, he also gave full play to the role thatscenery description displayed in the narrative. On the one hand, scenerydescription builds protagonist activity space, enhancing the authenticity ofthe narrative. On the other hand, the subjective description of the sceneryand the inner feelings of the characters echo each other, sublimating the theme of the works.The third part mainly analyzes the narrative characteristics of QiuDongping’s works after "giver" which was published in1937.Works of thisperiod were based on battle experience,focusing on narration of the"person" to build up the narrative structure centered by the characters’personality.He put the hero of binary opposition in contradictionchoices,making the hero fall in emotional experience between personalfamily interests and national interests conflict, then to the way ofawakening.At the same time, by the distance strategy, make the worksshow a degree of relaxation rhythm.In addition, the later works have adistinct ideological tendencies. In different aspects of personal narratives,implied author often jump to visible, have direct dialogue with the reader,expressing a strong subjective preference.
