Cantonese is one of the most important dialect in the main sevendialect of China. It has large influence not only in mainland China, butalso oversea. In Hongkong, Cantonese is used as official language withEnglish together. However, compared with other dialects inChina,Cantonese has great difference with Mandarin, and almost cann’tcommunicate with the Beijing dialect and Mandarin. Guangzhou dialectis the representative of Cantonese, it has many characteristic grammaticalphenomenon and difference with Mandarin and other dialects inmorphology、syntax.Cantonese is the carrier of the “South five ridges culture”.“South fiveridges culture”including “Traditional opera of South five ridges”、“Schoolof painting of South five ridges”、“Architecture of South five ridges”andCuisine of South five ridges. As the representative of Cantonese,Guangzhou dialect is the object which researched and investigated bymany linguists and dialectologists. However,language is developed withthe society and economics developing, under the policy of “Speakingstandard Mandarin,Writing standard characters”,Guangzhou dialect isinfluented by Mandarin heavily. This theise takes the grammar ofGuangzhou dialect for researching object,mainly discusses notionalwords、function words、syntax and other problems. The whole theisedivided into five chapters,the first chapter is introduction,mainlyintroduces the survey of Guangzhou.The second chapter is the descriptionof notional words of Guangzhou dialect.The third chapter is thedescription of function words of Guangzhou dialect.The fourth chapter isthe description of syntax of Guangzhou dialect,and the fifth chapter is theconclusion,summarize the characteristic in grammar of Guangzhoudialect.
