The theory of “Nature and human united as one” is an important part of Chinese traditional philosophy. This article mainly elaborates how Taoism and Confucianism expound the concept of “Nature and human united as one”. In this concept,“Nature” refers to “Nature Law” or “Nature Principles”,“Human” refers to “Humanity” or “Manners”. Taoism and Confucianism share a mutual Theoretical position, which is, nature principles should be combined with humanity. The connotation of nature principle decides the intrinsic character of human.”Nature” supports humanity and goes together with manners. Humanity is medium of judging the relationship of human and nature. The development of society is good for human to achieve humanity, which is conforming to nature principles. Dealing with alienation of society aims to promote humanity and re‐examine the process of construction of society. What is different between Taoism and Confucianism is that, Taoism holds the opinion that nature adjusts human activity, while Confucianism claims to respect nature by regulating humanistic construction. On this basis, the paper mainly analyzes the Taoism and Confucianism’s understanding of the inevitability of the society alienation, human nature, and other values of humanity, comprehensively discusses the theoretical construction of the theory of “Nature and human united as one” In the pre‐Qin period. The paper also summarizes the common theoretical characters of Taoism and Confucianism. For Marx’s alienation theory has same awareness of potential risks, the paper makes a comparison between the theory “Nature and human united as one” and Marx’s alienation theory by going through the key points of Taoism and Confucianism. The article expects to rethink the deviation of traditional “Nature and human united as one” theory by offering different points of view.
