Many translators studied style and raised their own views, such as "elegance" in "faithfulness, expressiveness and elegance" put forward by Yan Fu and "closeness" in "faithfulness, expressiveness and closeness" by Liu Zhongde;"resemblance in spirit" by Fu Lei and "sublimity" by Qian Zhongshu. Therefore, style is important in translation, especially in literary translation. This thesis, taking the translation of Salinger’s Nine Stories as an example, conducts a thorough study on the reproduction of style in literary translation. It includes the definition and expressive forms of style; the importance and possibility style reproduction and strategies of reproducing style in target text. The thesis makes the conclusion that target texts should be faithful to not only content but also style of original texts. The reproduction of style in target texts is not only possible but also necessary. A translator should correctly understand style of both writers and texts before translation and reproduce style of original texts from the perspective of word choice, sentences and rhetorical devices.
