Research On Drum Dance Of Miao Nationality In Western Hunan——from The Perspective Of The Protection Of Intangible Cultural Heritage

The origin of Drum Dance of Miao nationality is closely relates to the history and life of Miao nationality. The Miao ethnic group exhibit their appreciation toward nature and life through Drum Dance and demonstrate the rich and colorful life of Miao community. The Drum Dance of Miao nationality, which regarded as China’s testimony of national cultural art and precious heritage, was included in the first batch of the Catalogue of National Intangible Cultural Heritage in May,2006. Nowadays, under the background of global culture collision, Drum Dance of Miao nationality, which originated from folk ceremonies and farming culture, also meet the challenges of survival and development. Some research methods are adopted in this paper, such as collection of folk songs of the field, scientific research, analysis of documents, interviews of professionals, etc. Through research integrated theory with practice, this paper demonstrated the analysis of art charm and research outcomes of Drum Dance through geographic characteristics, national style and manifestation, etc. On the basis of on-the-spot investigation, the paper explore the ways of the protection and lineage about the Drum Dance in the modernization and try to fully demonstrate the academic research value and the unique art charm of the regional dance which is old and outstanding.The paper consists of three parts:introduction, main body and conclusion. Introduction mainly illustrates the proofs, meaning and research trends and clarifies the basic methods of research. Main body is divided into three parts. The first part illustrates the overview of the Drum Dance of Miao nationality, which includes the origin, areal distribution, types and artistic features of the Drum Dance. The second part analyze and summarize the status survey of the Drum Dance of Miao nationality. For the last part, the writer raises the idea of using the diversified lineage ways to make conditions for the survival and development the Drum Dance of Miao nationality from the perspective of protecting the intangible cultural heritage. The conclusion deal with the unique art value of this dance and the experiences of the writer gained from paper writing and research.
