Nowadays, there is an increasing demand for translators in the job market. Translation teaching has gradually aroused the scholars’attention. However, the number of students who can be engaged in translation directly after graduation can not meet the needs of the market. Therefore, how to quickly train the qualified translators to resolve the contradiction between the translation teaching and market requirements of translators should be considered seriously by the educators. That is the practical significance of this study. The author designed the questionnaire based on the stylistic awareness and designed the test based on the register theory. With the aid of SPSS, the author analyzed the data and found the current conditions of translation stylistic awareness of junior and senior English major students and the factors influencing the cultivation of stylistic awareness. Then the author proposed the interest-centered self-study teaching models. The results of this study may be helpful to the translation teachers. In this thesis, the author pointed out that stylistic awareness in translation is the identification and interpretation in the source language and the evaluation and application in the target language. Based on this concept, the author designed the questionnaire. Its main body consisted of three parts. The first part was about stylistic translation. The second part was about the teachers, teaching materials, personal interests, peers and students’career goals. The last part was about the students’ acceptance of the teaching model the author proposed in this thesis. Based on the concept of "field" in the register theory, the author divided the texts into news report, legal documents public sings and international business etc. Then the author designed questions in the diagnostic translation test which can represent these styles.Through data analysis, the author found the junior and senior English major students in Yangtze University realized the importance of the stylistic knowledge in translation. They did not do enough work on summarizing the stylistic features while learning English as a second language and could not apply them well in translation. The students’scores were of no significant difference between Grade3and Grade4and between male and female. There was no relation between the students’TEM-4scores and diagnostic translation test scores. There was no relation between the students’ diagnostic translation test scores and their stylistic awareness. At the end of this thesis, the author proposed the interest-centered self-study teaching models. The teacher divides the students into different groups according to their interests and encourages them to discover the stylistic features of different fields and translate by themselves after class. Inside the class, more time is spent on group discussions. By re-arranging the class hours, planning the teaching content according to the students’interest and reforming the teaching models, the students’practical translation skills could be strengthened and their interest can be developed, making them more competitive in the job market.
