Dao County mandarin, which belongs to southwestern mandarin, shares many similar points with other typical southwestern mandarin, while it has its own features. By comparing Dao County mandarin with other typical southwestern mandarin, a conclusion can be made:they share more features alike than dislike. The features of Dao County phonology are mainly reflected in that Fei Group mixes with Xiao Group and Nasal rhyme accounts the most positive finals. Ru tones now have already disappeared and integrated into positive tones. The value of positive tones is41.Dao County mandarin is prevail in the county, while village dialects are prevail in those villages. People who are living in villages prefer to use mandarin to communicate with people from town and other villages.Mandarin’s influences on village dialects are obvious. This is reflected in that people who living in villages are in favor of mandarin. More and more children in villages receive mandarin as their first dialect. Village dialects, if having two ways of pronunciations, the literal reading is similar with Dao County. On the other hand, village dialects also affect mandarin, especially with the development of economy, more and more people emerge from villages to towns. So we should pay attention this phenomenon, and make more study about it.
