The Comparative Study On The Speech Sounds Of Dialects In Huaihe River Valley, Anhui Province

Jianghuai Mandarin and Zhongyuan Mandarin are two important dialects in Anhui province.The dialects contact and influence each other,so the its'features tend to be same.The geographical distribution and historical development of the dialects are in connection with the Huaihe River,because it plays a important role in the nature geography ,political geography and social development in our country.Most of the papers focused on Jianghuai Madarin,though researchs came down to this area,and Zhongyuan Madarin was neglected.We did not find rasearch on the relations of Jianghuai Mandarin and oher Mandarin,especially the relations of Jianghuai Mandarin and Zhongyuan Mandarin in north Anhui province.These is no papers about synchronic and diachronic relation of the two dialects by view angle of Huaihe River..This paper compare important phonetic features of the two dialects in north Anhui province synchronically after we discribe every dialects clearly, and forther more,we want to find the evolution process.Then,the establishment of dialect in north of Anhui appear.This paper is composed of five chapters:Chapter 1 is introduction.We introduce the humane environment and physical environment, the situation of research, mathod, train of thought and how we get material.Chapter 2 is phonetic system.We describe the phonetic systems of main dialectsChapter 3 is Comparative research on important phonetic features.It is in three parts:firstly,we compare initial consonants of zhi(知)zhuang(庄)zhang(章) in Zhongyuan Mandarin.Zhengcao cluster is samilar to Jinan Type,Xinbeng cluster is near to Nanjing Type and Xiaoxian dialect belong to Changxu Type.Then we divided the Zhongyuan Mandarin into five groups:Fushu,Xiaodang,Huaihuo,Wufeng and Benggu.Secondly,we copare the phonetic features of Wanbei and Wanzhong dialcets in Hongchao cluster and primary study merging of Ru-tone. the author think that disappearing of Ru-tone embodies not only in Entering Endings,but also through vowel simplification.Thirdly,we describe the gradual changing of phonetic features from core of Zhongyuan Mandarin to Jianghuai Mandarin. Chapt 4 diachronic comparison about phonetic.We descibe the evolution process of important phonetic features,pay close attention to changing of Huainan dialect and Huaiyuan dialect.We think that Huainan dialect has changed to a new form,though it belonged to Jianghuai Mandarin Hongchao cluster.Huaiyuan dialect is changing now,it is differ from Zhongyuan Mandarin Xinbeng cluster just because of Ru-tone.It will belong to Xinbeng cluster as soon as the Ru-tone vanish.Chapt 5 discuss the interrelation between distribution of the two dialect and the changing of Huaihe River.We think that the Huaihe River plays a unique role in establishment of dialects pattern,that is cutting off north and south, transfixion east and west.The reasons can be seen when we interpret every clusters formation and dialects becoming near to north dialect by social facts.
