Songlian (1310-1381) is a famous scholar in the termination of Yuan and the beginning of Ming dynasty. His style name is Jinglian and another name Qianxi, and the posthumous title Wenxian. Songlian was very intelligent since his childhood, and learned from lots of people, for example Bao Tingzao、Meng Ji、Cheng Fu-chu、Huang Jin、Liu Guan、Wu Lai、etc. He asked and talked academic issues with Xuqian who was the famous Confucius scholar in that time (one of north mountain Confucius). Chen Juncai who was a hermit in that time also was visited by Songlian. He like Buddhism and visited lots of monks. Such a learning experience is very helpful for him. He benefited from this kind of studies, he study Confucianism Buddhism and Taoism and can go thought these three different studies without obstruction in understanding. Today we were deeply influenced by Songlian in literature, philosophy and Buddhism. Songlian write lots of books including biography of Puyang’s people、The Daoism of Longmenzi、The record of Hongwu’s policies、the literature collection of Qianxi、the literature collection of scholar Song Wenxian、the collection of Luoshan. In late Ming dynasty, the famous Buddhism scholar Yunqi Zhonghong(1535-1615) compiled the passages on Buddhism from Songlian’s works, and wrote the book called Songwenxiangonghufalu.SoYunqi Zhuhong did a great contribution to the studies of Ming’s Buddhism history, and this book praised by Qian Qianyi,Hanshan Deqing,Master Yin kuang, and Peng Jiqing, and they were all very famous people in Buddhism field. In one word, this book has played an important role in Buddhism history. It include thirteen passages of the pagoda inscription of Guochudafutu, the pagoda inscription of Yuanmodafutu eleven passages, stone tablet inscription eleven passages, verses of Buddha twenty one passages, forewords thirty-nine passages, Imperial Mandate two passages,Zan twenty four passages, Ming Twenty Five passages, Song two passages, Ji five passages,Shuo two passages,Tiba twenty four passages. These passages are all about the Buddhist, including the monks’things and the building system of jiangnan temples. So this book boasts a high status in Buddhist history. I have collected four versions of this book:Wanli’s version in Ming dynasty(the photocopy of Forbidden City and rare edition);the Japan version;Jingshan Huacheng temple version of Ming dynasty the third year of Tianqi;and The Republic of China’s version in8th year, collected by Sun Yuxian.Through studying the relationship of the four version, we can get a reliable version as a foundation documentary in the other research filed concerning this book.Songlian make friends with lots of people in his lifetime, there are one thousand people in his works:A Complete Collection Of Songlian. This book includes many stories or records which are concerning the relationships between Songlian and monks. For example, the famous Zen master Qianyan have given Songlian lots of help in his construction of Buddhist thought. He learned from Buddhists not only in china but also in foreign countries" monks, for instance the Japanese Zen master FantangLingyi. These experiences strengthen his Buddhist thought. This thesis aim to study and demonstrate the history in his relationship with the Buddhist.in so doing can we witness the evolution of Songlian’s Buddhist thought and promote the understanding to Songlian’s Buddhist thought, which is a showing of this work’s value. In this work, we can know some Buddhist polices in the early Ming dynasty, for instance the setting of government department of Buddhist; the appointment of the Buddhist in the government’s departments; the mutual dispatch of Buddhist between Ming and Japan. The research of Ming’s early Buddhist polices can make a deeply understanding of Ming’s Buddhist history. We can found many materials in this work, for example the formation and development of Songlian’s Buddhist thought and correspondence of Songlian’s thought between the Confucianism and the Buddhism. However the research about these aspects to some degree is not enough, so we need to deepen our modern achievement in this academic research. We can put forward new insights or drew new conclusion or overthrow the cliche. In conclusion we may get some new view points in the research in the Confucianism and the Buddhism.
