In the Early Days of new China, the leader of the new regime shifted their focus from urban to rural areas. Communist Party of China used the Literature-Art experiences that obtained during the Anti-War to the development of the new Urban Literature-Art. Literary philosophy and the transmission of policy all require a corresponding carrier as the medium, in the social environment of lacking material and spiritual conditions, newspapers played an important role. The Journal of Literature and Art was an integral part of carrying out the literature-art work because of its special historical position and special social role. Facing the new public groups, the new regime would carry out the literature-art work with enormous challenge. During this time, The Journal had played a role in fueling on the construction of urban public art. Based on the study of The Journal of Literature and Art between1929and1952I had made a specific analysis of historical data, in order to show that how did this Journal transform the old literature-art in a city, and then establish a new one including workers, troops, students and other groups. Meanwhile in the construction of public literature-art, the Journal showed the conflict between Upper elite’s awareness and Lower class’s interest, also revealed the fundamental contradiction between leaders’enforcement efforts and public’s instinctive acceptance.This paper includes the following five parts.The preface showed us the basis and significance of thesis topic, also included the research results’review of The Journal of Literature and Art and the basic ideas of this paper.The first chapter expatiated the Journal’s basic attitude of Urban Public Literature-Art in the Early Days of new China, including new readers and Ding Ling’s attitude to location of The paper’s editorial policy, The Journal of Literature and Art ’s attitude to Urban Public Literature-Art and established the dominate position of worker Literature-Art. Based on the fastidious of historical data revealed the Journal’s context and its essence intentions which came from carring out the Literature-Art work.The second chapter entirely chosen the Urban Public Literature-Art represented by film and the tools of the expression. Discussing the Soviet Union’ film influenced our courtry’film development.and The Journal of Literature and Art attached importance to the change of it’s content and form.All these explained masses’ attitudes to the reformation.Chapter three refered to the popular literature comic in the Early Days of new China as one case, then made a comprehensive exposition about the specific work that The Journal of Literature and Art took part in transform popular Literature-Art. Focus on discussing the change of it’s content and form, the implementation of comics’reconstruction by Journal, as well as the contradictions between City People’s interesting and new Literature-Art standards. All of that was intended to reveal the nature of public in this transformation process.According to the whole analyses and discusses, the conclusion part clarified its conception and requirement in this full construction process of Urban Literature-Art, the public’s attitude during carring out the Literature-Art work, as well as research into the essential reason of that Urban Public Literature-art faied to meet the real universal level.
