Grieve Literature, known for its various forms and profound meanings, has got an history of over two thousand years in China. Grieve Opera became popular since late Ming Dynasty, we divide them into five series according to different objects. Emotionally, in the first serise, the writes were still in love with their dead lover, which are usually their wives, these women were portrayed as a moral model with beauty and a brilliant mind. Aiming at the late children, in the second series, the writers created an ideal picture of afterlife just in memory of the wonderful words and deeds of their children. A strong feeling of lonely, guilty and unconfident about the future can not be solved while the writers lost their brothers or sisters, not to speak suffering the loss of parents, thus they turned the grieve into work. The last series is about the memories of association with dead friends. We also discuss about the two common narrative mode of Grieve Opera, the banished immortal returning to heaven, and the soul appearing in one’s dream. The connotation is mainly embodied in an explanation of the uncertain fate, weeping for the dead, reconsidering the states of living, and coming to realize the ture meaning of life.
