Mr. Zhu Ziqing’s prose has enjoyed a pivotal position in contemporary Chinese prose.Back,selected into the Chinese textbooks for middle school students as Zhu’s most classical prose work,has always been read and studied as a hot spot. A large number of experts, scholars and teachers have interpreted and analysed it in detail from the writer’s life experience, story-writing background, theme, writingtechniques, and even from teaching design. But to our regret, up to date, there is no article on Back with a comprehensive research into its present reading status.This paper, on the basis of extensive collection of research materials,tries to make a detailed and comprehensive summary from four aspects,i.e.the excellence, the pluralistic interpretations,reading comparisons with other works,and arguments about Back,hoping to improve the teachers and students’understanding of Back more comprehensively,to add some supplementary teaching references,to contribute a little bit to the prevention of misunderstanding the prose and provide a reference for Chinese reading in middle school.
