The beginning of the twentieth century is the time when China’smodern writing theory started to develop, and the new writing thoughtderiving from the feudal time began to grow. Lai Yu Xun’s the ArticleCode of Chinese Code is one of the writing theory works which emergedas the times required.The Chinese Code is divided into The Document Dictionary and TheArticle Code. This paper will research The Article Code which discussesthe writing knowledge.The Article Canon is divided into four volumes:" The first volume isThe grammar--about the method of words, syntax, composition, article;The second volume is the document tactic--about the article style andstructure requirements; The third volume is genre--about kinds of articlesabout the genre; The fourth volume is literary theory--about the article’sbasic principle, development history and what disadvantages we shalltake care to avoid in the process of writing articles." The four volumesinvolved all kinds of problems about writing theory. It is substantial andsystematic.At present the academic researches on The Article Code are weak,and the ones from the viewpoint of writing are less. This shows that TheArticle Code has to be further development. The author in this paper hopes to discuss the article writing rules, make the writing peoplerule-based, and prompt subject of writing prosperity.The main content of this thesis is divided into seven parts:The first chapter discusses the ways of expression and genre, rhythmin style classification. It will evaluate Lai Yu Xun’s article idea that givespriority to practical writing.The second chapter mainly deals with Lai Yu Xun, summarizing theskills of choosing words, making sentences and planning structure inarticle writing.The third chapter discusses all kinds of article style.The fourth chapter will expound Lai Yu Xun’s point of view aboutthe relationship of Wen and Zhi.The fifth chapter discuss the writer how to strengthen theirself-cultivation, improve the quality of their articles.The sixth chapter expounds the criticism from Lai Yu Xun about thefallacies in the article writing.The seventh chapter contacts with reality, discussing The ArticleCode’s three implications to current writing teaching.The author thinks that Liu Xie’s Wen Xin Diao Long laid the writingbasic system and scale in the northern and southern dynasties. Then afterthe theorists and writers continuously developed and innovated, theChinese ancient writing theory was constantly enriched. And The Article Code as the summary of ancient writing theory and the beginning ofmodern writing theory assumes the pivotal responsibility. The ArticleCode inherits and carries the ancient writing theory, and it is also thebeginning of modern writing theory. Under the influence of the westerncivilization, The Article Code was born in the transitional times from theold culture to the new. Many traditional writing books such as Wen XinDiao Long has not been discussed deeply as the writing theory and themethod of writing skills. For example, The Article Code makes the stylefor three grades, a total of three parts, nine types and one hundred andthree kinds, in the style of classification. The Article Code respectivelydiscusses the words, syntax, composition and article techniques from fouraspects, change the words law into auxiliary word method, describesanalytical method, and change article law into full article method andpartial article method. It is a great progress. The Article Code divides themaladies of article writing into six aspects which are the devil, sprite,thief, stealing, artisan and slaves, divides the fallacies of article writinginto JianTi, NiWen, FenPai, BuPian, SuXue, ZhaiZi. It is the performancethat Lai Yu Xun opposes formalist style in the new era. The Article Coderespectively discusses the writer’s literacy by studying traditional writingtheory, reading and travelling, writing and translating four aspects, andfurther enriching the traditional theory of writing. We can say, the writingtheory of The Article Code absorbs many elite of ancient theorists, and keeps pace with the times to blend in new writing culture of the20thcentury by forming a peculiar writing theory. Since Wen Xin Diao Long,so comprehensive and professional writings which expounds writingtheory, explain writing knowledge and in order to guide the article doesnot see more. Therefore, in this paper the author hopes to provide someinspiration for the construction of the modern writing theory system,making the writing skills, the writer’s literacy and the research ofpractical writing get more attention in the actual teaching practice. Finally,the author hopes to promote the subject of writing which should have aprosperous future with the development by all the scholars andpredecessors.
