With the economic globalization, international business communication gets increasingly frequent and the importance of Business English translation thereby gets more prominent. Business English is an interdisciplinary of English language and international business, and its unique language characteristics distinguish itself from general English and literary English. In Business English translation, the theory of functional equivalence has a very important guiding role. This thesis uses this theory to analyze Business English translation. Chapter One introduces Nida’s functional equivalence theory and expounds the guiding roles of functional equivalence theory to Business English translation. Chapter Two analyzes the language features of Business English from three aspects, which are the frequent using of terminologies and cliches, simple and explicit wording, standard and rigorous sentences. Mastering the language features of Business English is very significant for translating Business English correctly and achieving functional equivalence. Chapter Three analyzes functional equivalence in Business English translation, mainly focusing on functional equivalence on the level of meaning and style. The author of this thesis thinks that Business English translation should follow equivalence function theory and achieve the maximum equivalence between the original text and the translation, so as to ensure smooth business communication.
