With the development of the reform and the opening up, especially China’s entry into WTO, foreign trade plays an increasingly important role in the national economy. Under this circumstance, the importance of the translation of economic and trade English is noticeable. As one of the ESP(English for Special Purposes) fields, economic and trade English has its unique linguistic and stylistic features. It requires not only one language into another language, and the form, content and style of the original text should be expressed faithfully. At present, criteria and principles of literary translation have been mostly used to study translation of economic and trade English. The research on translation of economic and trade English at home and abroad centers upon the translation of words, less puts emphasis on its clause translation and lacks comparatively unified translation criteria and methods. By using exemplification and induction, the thesis tends to discuss the translation criteria and methods of the clause of economic and trade English which we can follow through a study on attributive clause, noun clause, adverbial clause. As a result, the development and the communication of economic and trade English activities will be greatly promoted.
