Research On Colorful Paintings Of Traditional Mongolian Furniture

As one of the important contents of the prairie culture, the traditional Mongolian Furniture was facing the disappearing situation. The colorful decorations on the furniture surface are still unknown to the public. This research can not only develop and expand the Mongolian traditional culture, make more people from kinds of society level, also make valuable background information for art creations on Mongolian motifs.The main material of Mongolian traditional furniture is wood, some fur and metal are as accessory materials. So this research is the color paintings on the wood furniture.Field research is the basic method in this thesis. There are400pieces of furniture which were collected during the field research work in the main pastoral regions in Inner Mongolia. Then the colorful paintings were analyzed and classified, which were selected from the400pieces of furniture, to the further conclusion of the colorful paintings in different view, e. g. in format, content, color, etc.This thesis overview some contents of Mongolian furniture, such as the size, the type, the structure, mainly analyze the format, the detail, the color and the function of the colorful paintings on the furniture. The color and the format of the colorful paintings are the emphases.There are several researches on Mongolian furniture, such as on the patterns, ornament, or the overall researches. But lots of are lack of depth and details. The research of ornament is focused on the signal of decoration and the cultural background. This thesis put eyes on the format and function of the colorful paintings.
