In the20th century, there emerged a large number of musical styles with the experimental characteristics whose innovation on compositional concepts and techniques leave a colorful trace in the history of music. Aleatory music and interactive music are two of the representatives playing the important roles on the development of new music.With the help of the literature available and inspired by the related knowledge of other subject areas, the thesis is aiming at summarizing the core innovative concepts and techniques, finding the relationship between them as well as the development skeleton and tracing back the causes of their generation, by means of a comparative study on the social background, compositional concepts and techniques of aleatory music and interactive music in depth and mutilevel. Furthermore, the article try to construct comprehensive and systematic theories of aleatory music and interactive music at the different levels of point, line and surface.The logical conclusion is that:on the basis of compositional concepts and techniques of aleatory music as a conceptual art, interactive music make a new development through drawing the fresh compositional language and form from a wide range of new media art and combining with the advanced science and technology. In the last section, I make reflections on the existing problems and the development direction of interactive music. Based on theoretical understanding, the thesis also detail analysis of the works of John Cage and Tod Machover, who are representative composer of aleatory music and interactive music, in order to provide useful reference for composition from now on.
