Modern music creation in20th century, no matter in techniques or in ideas, has changed dramatically. The composers are seeking a more capacious way and a profounder thought in their music creation. At the beginning of1980s, the Chinese composers who are affected by the thoughts and works of modern western music, all stepped on the road to start their innovations through using the new techniques, means and sounds of modern western music, among which includes George Crum’s work—Ancient Voice of Children, a new type of Chamber music which integrates voices with the creation of Chamber music. Qu Xiaosong’s work—MONGDONG, which brought forth new ideas on the basis of this Chamber music, has become a classic of modern Chinese music at that time. What’s more, the success of MONGDONG means that we should and must apply the works and techniques of modern western music more properly and reasonably, but not just copy and transplant everything blindly and mechanically; also on the way of innovation and seeking the new sounds, Chinese composers should integrate the marrow of traditional Chinese culture with the music from outward appearance to inner essence, create the modern music of China, and dig out the connotation of the musical performance on a profounder level. The author of the present thesis also adds human voice and national cultural factors in her gr aduation work, Canguan, which expresses her deep love to hometown. The present thesis will elab orate the great change of professional music creation since the20th century, and discuss the comp osing thinking of Canguan from the perspectives of new factors’and’national characters’. The ce ntral focus of the present thesis is the national factors and integration of human voice in the work, and their significance will be stated in detail through the presentation of the composing ideas, the analysis of the music text and the demonstration of examples.
