Traditional Chinese Cultural Symbols In Poster Design

The so-called “poster”，which used to promote events，the function of productsand information，is printing products and usually posted as outdoor ads． It canproduce poster design work which contains a profound cultural deposits by usingtraditional symbols in the modern poster design．This article is divided into five parts．In the first part，the author presents theviews of the use of traditional Chinese symbols in the field of modern poster designfrom both cultural and economic viewpoints based on extensive research．Symbolsplay an important role in the field of modern society，After the twenty-first century，thelevel of our poster design has been greatly improved with the development of foreignexchange．However，our poster design concept，especially in the form of expression，still fall behind of Europe，Japan and other developed countries， it encounters abottleneck in the issue of exaltation．In the second part，the concept of posters is firstintroduced． Then the author uses a large length to explain the historical developmentof poster design in both China and foreign countries．Following this，the authorintroduces the function and features of poster according to the classification ofcommercial poster and cultural poster，and states the graphical structures，the colordesign，and the use of text form poster design．In the third part，The author presents thefunction of symbols in the poster design．The author pointes out the relationshipbetween symbols with emblem，graphics and other field of visual communication bythe discussion of semiotics，and proves the function of symbols in the poster designtheoretically．The fourth part is the focus of the paper，which introduces the applicationof traditional cultural symbols in modern poster design．It proves the important rolethat the traditional Chinese culture plays in the poster design by a large number ofcases from the social political, economic，artistic，religious，and other aspects．Chinesetraditional cultural symbols are generated in the cultural mainstream in five thousandyears．The same as our nation’s origins，although they are suffering．but neverinterrupt，and they still have fresh color of national culture and lives，reflect theaesthetic concepts and cultural origins which are unique to Chinese people．The fifthpart is conclusion for the full-text．＂More national， more international＂．In thecurrent global economic integration，we should strive to carry forward the essence oftraditional symbols of our motherland，implant the concept of modern design，andmake a contribution to raising the level of Chinese poster design．...
