A Study On Netspeak Of Sina Microblog Based On Register Theory

According to the application and popularization of Internet, especially the popularization of the net media, net communication, net communities, and netspeak developed rapidly, and gradually seeped to our daily life, study, work and entertainment, becoming a part of our daily expression. Because of it’s increasingly popularization, netspeak has aroused attention in academic research.As a register of Mandarin, Chinese netspeak is formed in the context of computer-mediated communication. Regarded as an important part of systemic-functional linguistics, the theory of register is mature in full functions. The theory says that register is a functional variation in situational context. This thesis was supported by many data sources which used in sina microblog with its own characteristics, by using the empirical analysis method, adapted the register theory to analyze the characteristics of netspeak of sina microblog.Because the internet is a special communication media and has great difference with the traditional communication methods, the netspeak has undergone great change, and has great differences with traditional language. In this thesis, firstly, the author analyzes the general linguistic features of the netspeak from the following aspects:phonological, lexical, syntactical and so on. Then on the basis of the analysis, the author continues to analyze the characteristics and disciplines from the aspect of the three register variables and the theory of register. The field of netspeak has the feature of beyond the limitation of geographic proximity and with rich topics. The topics involve all aspects of lives of reality and network. The influences of topic on the netspeak mainly reflect in the close relationship between the netspeak of the sina microblog and some specific phenomena of the objective world or the internet culture. One of the obvious features of communication through internet is the cross geopolitical nature. The impact that the cross geopolitical nature on the netspeak are the mixing use of dialects and the borrowings. The tenor’s features of the netspeak of sina microblog are as following:equal in power, infrequent contact and less affection investment. So the impacts on the netspeak are mainly embodied in the frequency use of the modal particle and casually use of the personal pronoun and salutation. The mode of netspeak of sina microblog is mainly the unofficial spoken written language, with the writing and symbol in the lead, the impact on the netspeak are mainly embodied in the creativity, versinnlichung and so on. Based on the features of the three register variables of netspeak, the netizens can choose the netspeak of their own characteristics.This thesis attempts to adapt the register theory to analyze the impact of netspeak in relation to register variables in theoretical depth. Therefore, due to the limited time and research competence, this thesis doubtless has inadequacies and shortcomings. With the development of Internet, netspeak will play more and more important function, and bring a new opportunity and challenge to the related field.
