The Research Of The Variant Characters Of The Book Of Changes

Book of changes is an important document among the confucian literature,and the research on it is prosperous from time immemorial.However,the scholars mostly describe its meaning from the perspective of image-number and philosophical connotations,neglecting the fundamental function of the language text for the interpretation of this book.Though the ancients also made the explanation of the word meaning,the former explanation was mostly limited in content of image-number and philosophical connotations, lack of language research.lt is necessary to pay attention to the exegesis of the book of changes’ text,which can improve the creditability of the interpretation of image-number and philosophical connotations.Today,we are lucky enough to encounter several precious versions of book of changes,such as the the bamboo slips of chu,silk text edition,the bamboo slips of the han dynasty unearthed in fuyang,the classics engraved on the stone tablets in the Xiping Period,the stone classics in Tang dynasty,the dunhuang remnants and the current edition collated by RuanYuan,which provide the valuable corpus for the research on the variant characters of the book.Many scholars have obatained great achievements on the research,however,the research view is limited in only several editions or trigrams.This article aims at carrying on overall combs and probes into to the variant characters based on the comprehensive utilization of the seven editions,which is part of my tutor’s Ministry of education humanistic social science project "book of changes linguistics research",because of the division of labor,this article only involve20trigrams.This text is mainly divided into five parts.Inrtoduction Part mainly presents the significance and objective of this paper.The comparative analysis of the several sections which is the precious corpus help inquiry the original appearance of book of changes.It is helpful for us to acknowledge the natural form by making clear the evolution of words in book of changes through the research of variant characters in it.The reduction of the original appearance of ancient text is a very difficult task,because the research involves many aspects of knowledge such as characters,phonology,exegesis and collation.This article is temporarily devoted to the preliminary hackling of the variant characters. Inrtoduction Part also tells the general situation of the corpus,the research status and expounds the reseach method.The variant characters in book of changes include three types:character,vocabulary and sentences.Chapter1,Chapter2and Chapter3respectively hackle the variant characters from the three aspects.chapter1chiefly describes the variant characters from the level of character,which mainly include variant form,interchangeable characters and ancient and Modern characters.The text lists all the relevant Characters in the twenty trigrams,trying to make a careful and detailed analysis.Chapter2chiefly describes the variant characters from the level of vocabulary,which mainly include synonym,paronym,overlapping words and two alliterated words.Chapter3chiefly describes the variant characters from the level of character from the level of sentences,which mainly include erroneous words,missing words,redundant words and inverted words.The three chapters simultaneous make a simple statistics and analysis,trying to demonstrate the characteristics of the variant characters. As a result,we can also acquire a recognition of the feature of certain versions.In Chapter3,the causes for the variant characters are also discussed.Chapter4,the last chapter,describes the genesis of the variant characters and the research value.The reason for the formation are discussed from the following three aspects:spatial and temporal factors,subjective factors and the variant characters’own development rule.The research are helpful for the investigation of the evolution of font and phonology, the textual research of signification of ancient Chinese and the collation of book of changes.Because of the wide range of the knowledge involved, the deficiency of research experience and the low research ability,the article is not so satisfying.Different schorlars have different definitions of the variant characters,because there is coincidence in different types.Therefore,the article certainly have some weak points concerning the definitions of the variant characters,and some aspects also need further research.There is a expectation for the aiticle to improve and perfect by virtue of the teachers’ guidance.
