The Research On The Variant Charactres In Han Dynasty Wooden Slips Of Jian Shuijin Guan (Ⅰ-Ⅳ)

Jianshui Jinguan was an important military pass,which came with in the jurisdiction of ZhangYe County at Jian Shui Du Wei in Han Dynasty,and it was the only way between the HeXi corridor and JuYan area. Sino-Sweedish Scientific Expedition to Northwest(composed of Chinese and Sweden archaeologist)excavated 850 Wooden Slips of Han Dynasty in Jianshui Jinguan site early as 1930,these slips was included in Ju Yan Han Wooden Slips with 1 million Slips in the same time excavation.What’s more,There were more than 11000 pieces of wooden slips were excavated at Jianshui Jinguan site by Gansu Institute of Archaeology after forty years in 1973, which divided into 5 volumes by collection and publication Under the cooperation of Slips of Gansu Protection Center and other five research units and institutes,Since 2011 Jianshui Jinguan Han wooden Slips (hereafter referred to as Jin guan jian) has published 4 volumes. Basing on these materials, we start our research about the question of variant characters in Jianshui Jinguan wooden slips.The question of variant characters in Han wooden slips of Northwest China including Wuwei, Dunhuang, Juyan has been concerned by academia for a long time, trying to probe into the variation pattern. Our dissertation applies the means of quantitative statistics and Synchronic and diachronic to the research of the variant characters appeared in Jinguan Wooden Slips(volumesl-4) by using the advanced database technology.The dissertation is composed of theoretical exposition and character patterns collection, and the former part is divided into 6 chapters. Chapter one is the introduction which consists of an intro to the Jinguan Wooden Slips, the definition of the variant characters and literature review on this research. Chapter two:Date these wooden slips, classify the character patterns and master the basic handwriting feature through textual research. Chapter three:Revise and supplement the annotations according to the current research results. Chapter four:Study the generality and individuality of the variant characters in Jinguan Wooden Slips by making an exhaustive-quantitative research on the type and amount distribution. Chapter five: Conclude the characteristics of the misidentification writing in Jinguan Wooden Slips after analyzing the misidentification of 16 typical components and 31 sets of similar characters. Chapter six:Sum up the personality factors and the positive role of the variant characters in Jinguan Wooden Slips in the development process of Chinese characters on the basis of previous research.All character patterns are included in the Character Patterns Collection of Jianshui Jinguan Wooden Slips apart from paintings, symbols and illegible characters. Ordering on Shuo Wen Jie Zi, the collection is divided into 14 volumes and contains () character prefixes, among which 2130 prefixes are included in Shuo Wen Jie Zi and 332 are not. Each individual character contains four items:prefix of Liti, seal character, character frequency and character pattern.This paper has some innovations:firstly, the Jinguan Wooden Slips is the latest published wooden slips of the Han Dynasty and contains huge numbers of variant characters which contribute to deepen and supplement the previous research.Secondly, make quantitative research on the quantity, patterns and forms of the variant characters in Jinguan Wooden Slips and draw an objective conclusion as data by using character databases.Third, through documentary analysis, this paper makes a study on the document types, the historical backgrounds and chirography styles of Jinguan Wooden Slips and then probes into the causes of variant characters in Jinguan Wooden Slips, such as a long time span, variety of documents, complicated chirography, numbers of scibes and various handwriting levels and so on.Besides the variant characters in Jinguan Wooden Slips, the List of Variant Characters in Jinguan Wooden Slips also contains corresponding variant characters in other northwest slips, which presents a panorama of variant patterns of this individual character.
