"The Jewish Question" is a terminology in the modern Jewish history. This paper will review the origin of "The Jewish Question", and it’s evolution in modern times, then analysis of its main content and the typical solutions, in order to show the living condition of the European Jews since Jewish Emancipation. In the first part, we will select some representative events in different historical periods to analysis the origin of "The Jewish Question". During the Biblical period, Jews were badly oppressed when they lived in a foreign land such as Egypt, which we can find in Exodus; In the early ages of Christianity, some important Councils were held to issue many bans, which were specially against the Jews, and as a rusult, the Jews’ religious, political, economic and social rights were severely restricted, such as the Council of Elvira; At the same time, the secular government, Roman empire did the same. In the Medieval Ages, religious conflicts between Judaism and Christianity were so sharply that anti-Semitism became the primary form against the Jews, and many Jews were cruelly persecuted by the Crusades. Before and after Reformation, the distinguished leader Martin Luther drastically change his attitude toward the Jews, from which we can also get some information. In the second part, we will focus on the term " The Jewish Question". Firstly we’ll study the evolution of the term in the modern times. It was first seen in the Jew Bill (1753) in England, and then heated debated during the French Revolution that attracted the world attention, and then transferred to Germany. Bauer and Marx’s articles which both named On the Jewish Question were wellknown, and many other famous people joined into the discussion. Then we summed up the content of the "Jewish Question" in modern times. First of all, followed the tradition, it is still a religious question, which is the source of "The Jewish Question" in modern times. Secondly, it has highlighted the performance of a population problem, concerning the high rising rates of population growth and large-scale migration, which is necessary that "The Jewish Question" would re-entry into public view. Thirdly, with the rise of the Jews in the field of financial and other modern business,"The Jewish Question" is an economic issue to a great extent. Fourth,"The Jewish Question" is a political problem, which is the most appropriate characteristic. At last, we analyse the relationship between "The Jewish Question" and "anti-Semitism" through researching their intension and extension. In the third part, we focus on discussing the solutions of "The Jewish Question" in the modern times. After Emancipation, Jewish Reform Movement in response to the times and made a preliminary attempt through reforming the religious tradition, then there are mainly two solutions. Firstly, Nazi took the racism as the theoretical basis, who advocated the physical elimination of the Jews, excuting the "final solution". Secondly, Modern Zionist dealt with "The Jewish Question" from the political dimension, and put the modern Zionism theory into practice, eventually to the establishment of the State of Israel. At last of the paper, it points out that because the Diaspora is not finished yet when modern Israel is established, and so many Jews still scattered around the world, in this case, the solution of "The Jewish Question" in modern times is only in the sense of historical logic of the Zionism theory. Actually,"The Jewish Question" will continue to exist, however, maybe in new forms or content, and is wait for the new solution which is accord with the new times.
