A Research On Violin Teaching Of Shi-Xiang Zhang

Shi-Xiang Zhang is a well-known violin educator at home and abroad. He had cultivated a lot of excellent violin talents for our country, such as Xiao-Dong Wang,Le Zhang,Ray Chen, and Jia-Feng Chen.Though he now lives in Sydney, he still pay attention to domestic violin education, and regularly come back to hold lectures as well as carrying out works for the popularity of violin education.This paper analyzed Professor Zhang ShiXiang’s56years of violin education teaching career through seven aspects including his life and work experience,teaching system, teaching characteristics, subject research, education teaching achievements, academic style and work style, after which we can conclude that rigorous, innovation and hard work are the key reasons of his success, but the most important, is his love for violin. The author hope that through the research we can provide the feasible advice for the development of the violin education, enrich violin teaching theory, and fill in gaps in domestic research of Professor Zhang ShiXiang’s teaching method.Generally speaking, this paper elaborates the teaching characteristics and outstanding contributions of Professor Zhang ShiXiang, including his translation of numbers of excellent foreign violin works in the80s and90s of the past century, which is a period lack of knowledge, he also wrote suitable textbooks for the violin students of different ages, and trained a lot of young violinist for our country. At present, he invented the multimedia violin practice combined with the features of resent times after10years of creative efforts. This new method took the place of traditional silent practice method innovatively, by which help the children carry out visual, auditory multidimensional practice under the lead in multimedia images, improved the students’enthusiasm, and reduced the workload of teachers. It also help the parents guide their children for special practice, and the students’learning can really have mark to follow. It is really a good news for the teachers, students and their parents.This paper also show that Professor Shi-Xiang Zhang take violin education as his religion and the way of life. Because he love this career, he constantly innovate in his teaching methods, and is willing to share his rich experience, his energy, with others. He influence more and more to love their career in all their lives like himself. He always say that music is wonderful, and music can give people extremely high enjoy on spirit. He hope all the children can understand and express the glorious music. And as for the teachers, he hope they can do more work, give more contribution, with more responsibility, but less utilitarian heart, to cultivate a very good study environment for the children.
