With the increasingly prevalence of Chinese learning, numerous foreign countries have set Chinese course in their universities, middle schools and even elementary schools. However, we have noticed that the traditional teaching method cannot meet the needs in Chinese teaching classes, especially in classes abroad. Therefore, it has been a hot-button topic for the teachers to explore how to stimulate learners’ learning enthusiasm, how to help them study effectively and boost their interest in Chinese culture.Group activities in class is a teaching approach which regards teachers as guides and students as main roles. It pays vital attention to interactions between students and between teachers and students. Scientific-designed and well-organized group activities can stimulate learners’ study initiative, improve teaching efficiency and cultivate learners’ corroborated spirit. In this essay, the author presented an empirical study about group activities in Chinese Integrated class during the four month’s fieldwork in Bannakmchumphom School in Thailand. To start with, based on the theories about group activities, the essay made a profound discussion about learners, topic choosing, the way to allocate learners and assessment systems, etc.Secondly, the author studied the Thailand students’ topic inclination through interview and questionnaire. Then the author analyzed the content of the interview and data of the questionnaire, thereby giving a summary to topic inclination among Thailand students, topic choosing differences in different ages and genders, and exploring how to choose topics effectively based on Thailand students’ characteristics and interests.Thirdly, the author had designed a lesson plan Talking about Spring Festival and applied it to the Chinese Integrated class. During the teaching process, we could find whether these methods above was available to group activities and meantime, we were able to find the downsides of group activities. Moreover, the author had a deep thinking about other elements which impacted this activities, such as the teachers’ supervision and involvement, students’ internal reasons and the class environment, etc, aiming at optimizing the teaching efficiency.Lastly, the author presented the problems existing in the activities, and then made some suggestions about how to plan and arrange group activities effectively, hoping to exert sound influences in Chinese teaching.
