The generalization of kinship terms is that call unrelated personswith kinship terms in a wide range, including unrelated communicationobject and alleged object. It’s the performance of kinship terms functionextension, object magnification. In this paper, the generalization of themodern Chinese kinship terms for the study.Kinship far or near,close or sparse diagram are precipitated in everylanguage of kinship terms system,reflecting the nation’s unique socialhabits and cultural traditions, has a profound cultural connotation. Underthe affect of unique cultural character of Han nationality, such kinshipterms word, to be gradually used to call each other unrelated people, andbecome a more common phenomenon in modern social communication. However,not every kinship terms can be generalization. The generalization ofModern Chinese kinship terms performance to a certain degree ofselectivity, regional, class, is inextricably linked traditional cultureof Han nationality, social structure, communication psychology.On the basis of the results of previous studies, based on the theoryof linguistic basis, combined with sociology, cultural anthropology,social psychology, communication, psychology and other disciplines ofknowledge, to collect relevant data, to seek the generalization of kinshipterms in Chinese development path, and analysis the types, characteristics,causes, and pragmatic principles and functions of the generalization ofModern Chinese kinship terms. In order to perspective this uniquelinguistic phenomenon behind the cultural clout of deeper meaning,reflect the social mentality and its values, hope to provide a validreference for people to correct and rational use of kinship terms.
