As one of the pioneers on modern poetry, Ezra Pound is also a pioneeron innovative poetry translation and poetic translation theory. Thoughsubjected to his experiment on poetry innovation in the British andAmerican literary world, Pound’s translation theory, in terms offoresightedness and originality, is no less astonishing than his initiation onnew poetry. By making the most influential and representative concept inPound’s poetic translation theory as the researching subject, this thesis is abold attempt of a study on “energy in language”–a thought on translationapplied in Pound’s poetic translation practices–in which discussions arecasted progressively from what is “energy in language” to its retainability, and from its traces of Deconstructionism to the cultural effects, with aimsto demarcate Pound’s “energy in language” and to understand its interiormechanism and exterior effects in systematic, insightful andcomprehensive manners. The “energy in language” discussed in the thesis,is just one of the concepts produced by Pound, not representing his wholetranslation theory.
