Modal Particles In The Chengdu Dialect

Modal particles play a very important role in people’s daily oral communicat ion; it is the primary means for people to express emotion and attitudes. This the sis mainly investigate the modal particles of the Chengdu dialect, and take the ofte n used modal particles of people’s daily communication as the research object, stri ve to pursue full and detailed description of synchronic plane, and trace the origin o f the word problem of the individual modal particles. The article classify describe the meaning and function of each modal particle, and compare it with Mandarin and the modal particles of surrounding cities’dialect in Chengdu, in order to e stablish the Chengdu Dialect system.This thesis is divided into five chapters.The first chapter is "Introduction", which outlines the situation of human geogra phy in Chengdu and the characteristics of the Chengdu dialect, then introduces th e definition of tone and modal particles; and analyses the history and current statu s of the modal particles of Dialect and Chengdu Dialect; finally, clarify the the objec t, purpose, methods, and the study materials of this article.The second chapter is "the classified research of modal particles in Chengdu dialect", this chapter analyzed the advantages and disadvantages of the taxonomy of the previous modal particle, and adopt a comprehensive taxonomy for modal particles in Chengdu dialect to make internal classification, including the aspect modal particle, modality modal particle, interrogative modal particle and modal particle in the middle of sentences, then make a specific description of the meaning and function for these four types of modal particles. Finally, summarizes the distribution characteristics of modal particles in Chengdu dialect.Chapter three is "the use of collocation of modal particles in Chengdu dialec t", this chapter though the investigate of the alone usage of modal particles in C hengdu dialect, found that the two-used modal particles in Chengdu dialect is mai nly used, the complexion of the three-used modal particles in Chengdu dialect is1ess. This situation will lead to the phenomena of synaeresis. There are three situ ations of modal particle which can be used successively:the aspect modal particl e and modality modal particle use together, the aspect modal particle and interrog ative modal particle use together, the aspect modal particle and modality modal particle and interrogative modal particle use together.Chapter four is about "the function investigation on modal particles in Chengdu dialect", this chapter summarizes three aspects function of the modal particles in Chengdu dialect:the semantic function, the function of completing the sentence, and the textual function.Chapter five is "the system of modal particle in Chengdu dialect", after the detailed describe of the meaning and function of modal particle in Chengdu dialect, we build the system of modal particle in Chengdu dialect, and summarized its written form and voice characteristics, at last, we compare the basic modal particle of Mandarin with the modal particle in Chengdu dialect, reflecting the unique charm of the dialect words.
