Abstract:This paper systematically and thoroughly explores and studies the main cinemas in Chengdu. Utilizing available books, essays and documents, this paper investigates the main cinemas in Chengdu, especially in their historical evolution and policy management, the interaction between cinemas and spectators, and the influences of the main cinemas in Chengdu during the initial stage of new China.The study of the Chengdu film industry during the initial stage of new China is an important topic in the research field of Sichuan’s modern social history. By expounding upon the relevant issues above, this paper discusses the public space provided by cinemas in Chengdu during the initial stage of new China, satisfying the public needs of entertainment and political education. This paper studies the film industry in Chengdu during the initial stage of new China and focuses on the developmental history and features of cinema. It is designed to provide historical references for the development and reformation of the cinemas in Chengdu and to contribute to the strategy of Sichuan’s status as a "prosperous cultural province".
