Study Of Chiefdom Political Organizati About The Southwest

Abstract:According to the Han dynasty recorded:The group of "The southwest(西南夷)" people which located in Sichuan, Yunnan and Guizhou region,in the mainland of China historical research has long been regarded as "The early state of slavery" or Morgan called "tribal alliance". Because of the Chiefdom Archaeological with the background of new evaluation in America was introduced into China mainland in1980’s, in the1990s, Mr. TongEnZheng(童恩正)started using the "Chiefdom" concept to analyze the "Dian kingdom’’(滇国),as a representative of the southwest people social organization, and think southwest is not "The early state of slavery" but instead "Chiefdom" form of society. In recent years, with the increasing archaeological data of southwest, and the further development of anthropology, sociology early in the state and Chiefdom, especially with the study of the latest international archaeology theory which provides an important of background to the understand of "The Southwest’s society organization before put them into Han civilization. Through the study shows that the "southwest" regions of the ancient Chiefdom organization in a different development level, to yunnan cultural core area, as a representative of the yunnan people Chiefdom organizations that have been developed to level which very close to the early stage of countries, namely complex Chiefdom, but some of the jinsha river basin of people such as "Xi" people(徙人),it is still in the stage of early Chiefdom. As the war in the southwest chiefdom has always been playing an important social integration and resources allocation function, ideology and war leaders as a social elite, common monopoly on social organization of the control, and also this provide important background to the early states setting. In addition, southwest distribution in a unique area of the closed terrain environment, and also for the region of complicated way society crowd with a corresponding background. Through our central plains and the Yangtze river basin, and the early national origin background and ways of comparative analysis, southwest chiefdom to the country forward from the possibility of more clear. In other words, even if the central China dynasty didn’t get into these areas, the local complex chiefdoms also can develop to the level of the early states.
