Lu Shiyong, as an independent thinking critic in poetry, puts forwardtwo views about poetry theory after reflecting upon the poems in Mingdynasty cautiously and objectively. He believes that poems must obey FengYa and Dao must obey balance, which can be used to correct some prejudcesappearing in some poetical groups, such as Qizi Pai, Gongan pai andJingling Pai. Meanwhile, he also hopes poems could come back to theancient Fengya. Based on these points, he comes up with the theory of Yun,and explains it in detail from the cotent, shape and formation of Yun. Thus, poems can be commented by Yun and Yun can be applied to the practice, which makes Yun studied wholely from practice. In this way, he thinkspoems in Han and Wei are far better than those in Tang. But Lu shows arejective attitude to some poems in open style. In poetry theories, Lu makesthe topics, the styles and the branches, including the system of poetry, allrelated to Yun and steady by adding Yun to the simple and quiet style. In aword, from the perspective of his poetical influence, Wang Yuyang’sShenyun in Qing and poetry theories by Shen Deqian more or less areafftected by him.
