The Researcher Of Bai Juyi’s Fu And Fu Theory

Bai Juyi, a great man of letters in the Mid-Tang dynasty，has made greatachievements in poetry and prose. He also has the very tremendous influence to thelater generation. There are altogether16pieces of fu in the Complete Works of BaiJuyi, which are artistic prose. Most of the other proses are official documents andstrategies, which has something to do with the background of his age and his ownexperiences. Among them, pieces of “luefu”, the style that Bai Juyi attached mostimportunate and was most satisfied with，are put at the beginning of the works. Thestyle was originally designed for the purpose of sitting for the imperial examinations.Bai Juyi made great breakthrough and innovation to this style, displaying his superblanguage skill and ability for taking examinations.Since the Tang Dynasty, some people criticized Bai Juyi for his poetry andsome people praised. There are so many research works about Bai Juyi. These worksmainly from the following aspects to research Bai: Works and Version，Biographies,Poetic and Creation, Ideological and political tendency and so on.Although Bai Juyi’s fu have got great achievement, his poetry’s research hasgone far beyond his prose, especially the research articles of fu are very rare.Although in Ma Jigao’s "The history of fu",Cao Minggang’s "Introduction ofFu",Wang Xiaoyang’s "The research of imperial examination’s style" and Fu Xilin’s"The research of Bai Juyi’s prose", the fu has been discussed at different levels.However, these studies do not focus on the fu. So in this paper, I select Bai Juyi’s fuas the research object and introduce the creation. And also interpret the ideologicalcontent and artistic characteristics of bai fu. In this paper, Bai Juyi’s fu theory alsowill be compared with his poetics so that to clearly and comprehensively reveal thevalue of the fu of Bai Juyi.This paper consists of three parts，namely，foreword，the main body and conclusion.Foreword，this part deals with the present situation and existing problemsof the research on BaiJuyi，and clarifies the significance，object and methods of thestudy. The main body is made up of four chapters. Chapter I: Analysis table ofcontents of Bai fu.In this chapter, a total discussion and understanding is given aboutthe table of contents of BaiJuyi’s fu. Chapter II: The Artistic Features.Among the fuwriters in tang dynasty, the works of Bai Juyi are original creations. In this chapter,the content and creative features of Bai fu are been introduced. The ideologicalcontent of Bai fu includes two aspects: The one is the article that focus on allegory.The other is that the articles are impacted by the Taoism. The Innovative art formsincludes five aspects: The rhyme used, sentence, language and Breakthrough limitsand long article developed. Chapter three is the Fu Theory and Poetics of BaiJuyi.This chapter is to introduce Bai Juyi’s fu theory, compare the fu theory with hispoetics and explore the relationship between Bai Juyi’s fu and his poetry.The lastchapter summary the full text. And introuduce the influence of Bai Juyi’s fu and theevaluation of future generations.
