Foreign language’s auditory information processing system model is a branchstudy of Prof. Yin Demo’s latest research findings on“Language-Thinking”-“Cognition-Knowledge” Bilingual Double Structure Theory(LT&CKBDS) in information processing of foreign language under the influence oftheoretical results of modern cognitive view and correlation function amonglinguistics, neuroscience and psychology. This study mainly focus on Chineseadults’ special mental mechanism on foreign language’s auditory informationprocessing during listening comprehension with the theoretical methods of cognitivescience to design system model on how human brain receives, stores, processes, obtains, integrates and deducts foreign language information with theoretical analysis.Foreign language’s auditory information processing mechanism is a complexthinking and multidimensional cognitive process, which is hardly explained withinonly one theoretical framework. This paper hypothesizes Chinese adult EnglishForeign language (EFL) learners’ foreign language’s auditory information processingand provides a theoretical analysis with the help of interdisciplinary theories from theperspective of cognitive science and those core viewpoints in Prof. Yin Demo’s latestresearch study about “Language-Thinking”-“Cognition-Knowledge” BilingualDouble Structure Theory (LT&CKBDS). Meanwhile, this study is trying to constructforeign language’s auditory information processing model from the perspective ofmacro and micro. The model is composed by multi-systems and covers multi-layers’correlation among component elements, which make Chinese adult English Foreignlanguage (EFL) learners’ foreign language’s auditory information processing becomean extremely complicated cognitive process influenced by multiple variables andprocessing steps. According to auditory processing mechanism and the mentalprocessing model, Experiments and Research Methods, has adopted the methods ofquantitative and qualitative research in order to discuss how the “language-thinking”structural system and “knowledge-cognition” structural system inside the learner’sbrain affect psychological processing and operating capability as well as the listeningeffects in the process of listening. The analytic results from the quantitative andqualitative research have confirmed that the “language-thinking” structural systemand “knowledge-cognition” structural system inside the learner’s brain will indeedinfluence the processing effects and psychological operating results when the listenersprocess the foreign auditory information so as to complete the listening tasks; besides,we also draw the conclusion that the “language-thinking”-“knowledge-cognition”structural system will be considered to be the fundamental factors which affect the listeners’ processing foreign auditory information during foreign language listeningcomprehension. To understand the language or speech is one of the unique ability of the humanbeing, which occurs in the brain and is subject to the working mechanism and thestructure of the brain. Listening, as the top one of the five language skills, needs theforeign auditory training to strengthen the skill. The process of Chinese adults’acquiring foreign listening skills is the process to improve the processing capacity offoreign auditory information and listening comprehension ability. During the learningprocess, merely accumulating the language knowledge is not enough. Much moreimportantly, to repeatedly practice and exercise is necessary to establish andstrengthen the neural pathways which are connected with different systems orsubsystems in the human brain’s neural networks and finally to store in the memorysystem solidly. Therefore, the thesis holds the view that the fundamental way toimprove the processing capacity of the foreign auditory information is to establish asystematic foreign auditory lexicon.
