| Language, as the most important tool for human communication, has always been in the progress of changing. The contact between different languages will certainly arouse language changing. The rapid globalization of English brought about the localization widely. The concept of "World Englishes" also reflected the change of recent English.We used the word or concept "China English" to describe and record the international English which described the Chinese civilization and society, especially the change and development of English when the Chinese government and people expressed their understanding, views, attitudes and position to the international affairs in English. In this sense, English which has Chinese culture connotation and characteristics of Chinese language expression, also can be understood and accepted universally by international English readers should be called "China English". In China, China English is used for communication in particular language environments, the growing tendency of English learning has been developed under the social and cultural backgrounds. As the society develops and the political position promotes of our country, the continuous growing need in cross-cultural communication also emerges, and China English is being paid more and more attention in China. Broadly speaking, China English issued from the description of international English to the Chinese civilization and society, also caused by the long-time description of Chinese people to themselves and the world in English, it is the extension and expansion of international English. China English took the international Standard English as its core, blending the Chinese unique culture, language, things, ideas and traditions in the international community by the means of transliteration, loan translation and semantic regeneration, and also took into many expressions with Chinese culture connotation and Chinese characteristics. Such as, distinctive words, phrases, sentences, cognitive method, metaphor and rhetoric, style of writing and composition structure. Therefore, China English has both the common character of international Standard English, and the individuality characteristic of the Han culture connotation and Chinese language. There is no doubt that China English is the product of the long-term cross-cultural communication between east and west. Narrowly speaking, China English means the expanded English which described (translated) Chinese civilization, Chinese society and Chinese language. The development and change of the society caused the development and change of language, and injected new language cultural connotation, new expression way and new ideas, English, as an international language, is even more so. No doubt that China English objectively existed, the Chinese characteristics of its features is helpful for Chinese culture and civilization propagation. So how to use and understand English in China, the relationship between China English and world Englishes, how China English influences Chinese culture, and so on, all of these questions have been a public topic faced by all English users.This paper consists five parts. The first part is an introduction about the purpose and significance of this thesis. The second part mainly emphasizes study situation of China English, especially the attitudes at home and aboard, and introduces international Englishes, including the present-day English, the progress of English globalization and the division of "Three Concentric Circles" of English. The third part introduces identity negotiation theory, the relationship between language and culture, and World Englishes Theory. The fourth part illuminates China English and Chinese English from the phonetic, lexical and syntactic level, as well as the relationship between China English and Chinese English, presents the functions of China English, and how China English influences Chinese culture. The last part mainly comes up with the future development of China English. |
