In1894, Japan launched the Sino-Japanese War, China was defeated andforced to sign the “Treaty of Shimonoseki”. Since then, foreigners setoff a frenzy to compete for China’s railway construction rights,management rights and mining right to carve up China, China was facingan unprecedented national crisis. For a strong patriotism, Kang Youweiand Liang Qichao launched a vigorous Hundred Days Reform Movement, Hunanis one of the most active provinces. Fan Zhui actively involved in theReform Movement in Hunan, and published a series of articles to promotethe Reform Movement in "Xiang newspaper", his thoughts had a strong senseof patriotism.The main contents of this paper include five chapters, namely:Chapter I It includes significance of the topic and research methodsof the paper,academic history and source of the datum.Chapter II The background of Fan Zhui’s thoughts. After theSino-Japanese War, foreigners set off frenzy to carve up China, China wasfacing an unprecedented national crisis. In this background, Kang Youweiand Liang Qichao launched the Hundred Days Reform Movement. After HuangZunxian and Liang Qichao entered Hunan, Reform Movement in Hunan was alsovery prosperous. This is the background of Fan Zhui’s thoughts.Chapter III Fan Zhui’s life and the course of his thoughts.Chapter IV The contents of Fan Zhui’s thoughts. His thoughts includesfour aspects,namely: To promote civil rights and constitutionalism,develop modern national industry, into the industrial country, developscience and technology, reform the imperial examination system and focuson talents, reform the social customs.Chapter V The comments on Fan Zhui’s thoughts. His thoughts had astrong sense of patriotism, his thoughts of civil rights were very radical,his thoughts played an important historical position in modern historyof China.
