Research On Green Tiger Pot (huzi) In South China In Six Dynasties

Tiger pot (huzi) is the common funeral object in Han and Jin and Northern andSouthern dynasties, which is first seen in Eastern Zhou dynasty, popular in Handynasty, prevalent in Six dynasty, and declined in Sui and Tang dynasty. A number ofGreen tiger pots (huzi) appear in graves of Six dynasty, which often appears one eachgrave, individually two. They’ve often been seen in south China, less in north China.The shape and its decoration evolution would be influenced by the thought, which isapparent in Jin dynasty.Researchers of different periods took great interest in this topic, and most of theirstudies were based on literature materials in1950s, and the shape and graves in1980s.However, the work of typology study hasn’t been done on this topic. This paper willtry to do this work. Besides, the unearthed environment and producer will be studiedhere.The thesis consists of the following parts:Part one is the preface, which summarizes the significance of the selected topicand the status&achievements made by the academia, then introduces briefly the mainthought of the thesis and research history on this topic.Part two discusses the distribution of Green tiger pot (huzi), and then analyzesthe spread.Part three is the typology study of Green tiger pot (huzi).Part four discusses the function of Green tiger pot (huzi), which is based on boththe literature materials and the archaeological excavations.Part five discusses the meaning of shape and its decoration evolution.Part six is the unearthed environment and producer, which includes graves andscale, the kilns, the regional differences, and the north China of Green tiger pot (huzi).Part seven is the epilogue.
