With the development of communication technology and extensivepopularization of TV culture, watching TV series has become animportant pattern of entertainment for the general public at home.Admittedly TV series market is booming in China during recent years,various different types of TV full of the screen. Due to the form andcontent of TV series becoming diversified, Chinese audiences culturalneeds are well satisfied. At the same time, TV program companiesmake a great profit.However, there is a very important phenomenon that foreign TVseries are popular in china we should pay attention. Foreign TV seriesincluding Japan TV series, Korea TV series, Thailand TV plays, andso on, have a large number of faithful audience in china. EspeciallyKorea TV series has had an important status which can not to beshaken in audience’s heart. This makes us learn the power behind ofTV series culture. Entering21st century, United States TV series arewidely spread into china by internet. Compared with other countries,the United States TV series is spread by internet. Furthermore, nomatter the content, the plot or the form, they are very different fromother countries. Therefore it is very significant for us to studyintercultural propagation of American television drama in ChinaThis paper is consist of five parts. Introduction: to introduce thesignificance, the purpose, the method of the paper at background ofpopulation of united states TV series and the present situationresearch of intercultural propagation of American television series in China. In the first part I clarify different theories of interculturalpropagation, then I propose my point of this theory. The second partfocuses on the present situation of the intercultural propagation andanalyses reasons of this situation. The third part explains why UnitedStates TV series are so attractive, taking Gossip Girl as an example.The forth Part IV, basing all the conclusions and the analysis of the TVseries, I provide some suggestions about the development of ChineseTV series. Conclusion section, I review the whole paper’s frameworkand system of my theory.
