The Episodic Symphony of “Mulan Psalm”, composed by GuanXia and written byLiu Lin in China, is a great piece of music works. It is based on the classical poetry“Mulan Ballad”. Mulan Psalm brings together the elements of opera, theater, music, opera,oratorio, melodrama, dance and other suitable scene performance as a whole, as well aswith local ethnic music, concert. All these make the work become a precious masterpieceof China in recent years. It carries on a detailed analysis of “Mulan Psalm” which is notonly from taking the basic situations and the artistic features of “Mulan Psalm”as thefoundation of the theory research but also setting Liu Shuang’s characters and singings asthe emphasized research.First, the preface gives a brief introduction of the research significance of the text, thedomestic research situation, the research method and the innovation theory in this paper.In the view of the present domestic research situation of “mulan poem”, I put forward theresearch direction of the thesis.Second, the paper introduces the fundamental situation in general, for example, thecomposer’s introduction, the background of the composition and the framework of “MulanPsalm”. Meanwhile, the artistic feature of the “Mulan Psalm” which includes thecombination of the scene and the symphony, the innovation of the theme in the story andthe music characteristic is analyzed and summarized for the continuous research ontheoretical aspect.Third, the study is focus on the image-shaping of the leading actor Liu Shuang andthe research of the three major arias. From the drama image, the music image and theinterpretation of Liu Shuang by teacher Dai Yuqiang, we can get a comprehensiveunderstanding of Liu Shaung’s characteristics. Meanwhile, from the analysis of the musicof the arias and the approaches of the singing art, we can realize the comprehension of thethree major arias. This can get a conclusion that we need to figure out the music mainbody of the poem and we need to pay more attention on the specific practices of thecombination of the sound and the emotion in the process of singing. Finally, the generalization of whole content of this paper is issued.
