"Mulan Psalm" is an important achievement of the 21 th century China National Opera,which focused on shaping the artistic image of Mulan.This paper argues that the characterization of the art of opera is an advanced stage of vocal music.Opera artistic images shaping by vocal,far more than a question of singing and acting,but includes spiritual and cultural history,connotation libretto,music form,singing,figure performances etc.This paper takes the version of "Mulan Psalm" which played in 2008 Vienna,Austria,the National Theatre as the object,from the spirit of history and culture,important libretto,vocal performances of magnolia role played by Peng Liyuan and contrast of other characters in vocal music performance,to explore the artistic image of vocal shaping and presentation of Mulan,provides reference for the research and teaching of opera vocal.Finally,the article also deliberates the influence of �Mulan Psalm� on our national opera and vocal music art.
