Rebel While Return: The Rebellion And Disadvantages Of Chinese Pioneer Poetries

Pioneer Poetries which have brought great influences to the development of themodern Chinese poetry are very important parts in the history of modern Chinese poetry.Both the “Arise” of the “Misty Poetry” and the “Rebellion” of the “Third Generation”gave a huge shock to the traditional poetry conception and appearance not only on poetrytheories but also the creation of the poems. They also brought vitality and creativity to thepoetry. However, the disadvantages in the “rebellion” of the Pioneer Poetries did harmboth the construction of their Poetry theories and the poem creation, made the MistyPoetry and the Third Generation unable to make their way out from the traditional poetries.As many thesis have talked about those disadvantages before, but most of them are failedto see the defect that the absence of metaphysical in the poems.There are3parts in this thesis. In the first two parts, it focuses on the “PoetryConception” and “Self-consciousness”, points out that both of the Misty Poetry and theThird Generation have the tendency to keep a “rebel while return” relationship to thetraditional poetry. That is to say, the rebellion is only a presentment and return is theessence actually. Based on the facts in the first two parts, the third part analyzes the reasonwhy these Pioneer Poetries have this kind of “rebel while return” tendency and points outthat the Pioneer Poetries have strong spirit of realism which is deep-related to thetraditional poetry in core, so they are unable to break the chains of realism and lack of“Transcendentalism vision” both in poetry conception and Self-consciousness. Together,they make Pioneer Poetries appear to be “rebel while return”.This thesis aims not only to find out the disadvantages in Pioneer Poetries, but alsobring more attentions to this field, explore the new angles such as transcendental in thediscussions.
