This article is based on literature and uses textual criticism、hermeneutics、functional learning as the main researching methods to study on the Book of OneHundred Fables in many aspects. In the process of studying, the text will be regarded asbreaking through point and researching on stories will be thought to be the key point. Atthe same time, artistic characters will also be taken into account as well.Firstly, studies on the Book of One Hundred Fables’ text. Some unclear aspectssuch as its original text’s forming time、interpretation、spreading and volume because ofSanskrit version of the Book of One Hundred Fables’ missing. Therefore, this articlewill focus on these problems stated as above.1. The original version of the Book of Onehundred fables was formed in between nearly400and450and it was used to propagatesome principles of Mahayana Buddhism and criticize Theravada Buddhism.2. Somestories which had the same characters with the Chinese version of the Book of Onehundred fables was transmitted into China by means of oral saying at least in period ofthe Romances of Three Kingdoms.3. The Book of One hundred Fables was properlystarted to be translated into Chinese in491and finished in492. What’s more, thetranslation of the Book of One hundred Fables was properly ordered and offered someaids by government.4. As we know, the initial style’s the Book of One hundred Fablescontained ten volumes and one hundred pieces of stories by combing throughtranslation of its sub-volume.Secondly, studies on the Book of One hundred Fables’ story. This article will makean interpretation of the Book of One hundred Fables’ natural connection with theSino-Indian folk literature by means of drawing map: exploring its story’s source(ancient Indian folk tale)'being collected by the Book of Twelve Buddhism'beingcompiled into the Book One hundred Fables'being transmitted into China'making some serous influences on Chinese folk tales. Some studies show that the book of Onehundred Fables’ story was come from foolish person’s story which was very popularwith ancient Indian. At the same time, we will explain that the Book of One hundredFables’ spreads and its impaction on other countries’ literature, sketching out the tracesof its spreading in China and North Korea and so on, especially, focusing on itsimpaction on Chinese and Korean folk tales.Finally, researching on artistic character which contains three aspects:1. The metaphor of speaking ways. Metaphor will be explained and classified and itsfunction will also be demonstrated. At the same time, the Book of One Hundred Fables’metaphor and its reason for forming will be placed in the outstanding point. Somestudies show that metaphor contains two types and it can change abstract into image.The reason why the metaphor can be used by the Book of One Hundred Fables will bestated as follows: the traditional inheritance of ancient Indian literature; skills related topreach Buddhism which are used by Buddha.2. Studies on the sentence pattern. We can see that main parts of the Book of OneHundred Fables’ sentence consist of four words by means of reviewing of it. Thatcharacter can be caused by three factors: it greatly makes contribution to Buddhistscripture to be memorized and written; Chinese literature has a long history of thissentence style, therefore, it provides a reference to the translator of the Book of OneHundred Fables;being impacting by four-six parallel prose which was very popularwith people.3. Researching on language arts. We will pay more attention to the Book of OneHundred Fables’ three stylistic characters: non-classical and non-oral speaking;containing much foreign word; consisting of passive sentences and polysyllabic word.Furthermore, we will sum up that its language style is in condition of mixture and pointout that the reason for the formation of it: to keep book of Buddhist’s character;Buddha’s language policy; some characters of the audience which caused by the uppernobles and ordinary person’s different tastes.
