Study On Interrogative Category Of Chengdu Dialect

This paper attempts to make a comprehensive analysis of the special grammatical phenomena of interrogative category in Chengdu dialect for the first time. In the paper, the author not only makes a static description of both word system and sentence system of interrogative category in detail, but also does a comparative study on the differences and similarities of interrogative category between Chengdu dialect and Mandarin. Based on the sub-categories, with the existing study results as its references, the author describes the characteristics of southwest mandarin to a certain extent in this article, and tries to promote the grammar study of Sichuan dialect.The whole paper can be divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the introduction part. It mainly states the literature review, significance of the study, research method, source of the data, and case explanation of this study.The second chapter focuses on the the overview of both Chengdu and Chengdu dialect.The third chapter introduces the word system of interrogative category, focusing on the interrogative pronoun and interrogative modal particles.The fourth chapter concentrates on the sentence system of interrogative category. It discusses five kinds of questions in Chengdu dialect in detail:wh-questions, yes-no questions, selective questions, positive-negative questions and rhetorical questions.The last chapter makes conclusions, pointing out the limitations of the paper, and showing the direction of future efforts in such field of study.
