“Western Mandarin of the Spoken Language of west China” is atextbook for teaching spoken Chinese as a foreign language learned by foreignmissionary to preach deeply in masses, the corpus in which has well reflected thedialect situation of western Sichuan in19th century. The interrogative sentence in“Western Mandarin of the Spoken Language of west China” is set as object of studyin this paper, whose exhaustiveness is researched and studied, the type andcharacteristic of which are also deeply discussed.This paper consists of seven chapters: Chapter1Introduction, discussing theobject, situation, purpose, meaning, method of study of this paper. Chapter2-5dealwith the two parts of interrogative sentence: Special question (rhetorical question)and general question. Specific questions, the non-interrogative questions, alternativequestions are analyzed successively in Chapter2-5. In this Paper, the study of eachquestion starts from query mark, divides into subclasses inside of each kind of Question. Based on divided subclasses, the pragmatics, grammar, semantics ofeach kind of Question has been further and deeply discussed. Chapter6makes acomparison study between interrogative sentence in this book and question inmodern Chengdu dialect, inspecting the epoch characteristics of interrogativesentence by the aspect of diachronic research. Chapter7combines the characteristicsof the major of Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, elaborating thevalue and enlightenment in the teaching of chinese as a foreign language from thestudy of our interrogative sentence.
