The14years’ Anti-Japanese War is not only a history of aggression,but also a history of salvation. On the one hand, it leaves an indelible painand trauma on Chinese people. On the other hand, it provides a richhistorical source for artistic creation.As a screen writing for the Anti-Japanese War, the production of Warfilm is inseparable from certain social context. On the one hand, asideological reproduction, it is restricted by a variety of social factors. Onthe other hand, as a cultural force, it reflects the historical evolution andaffects the society either explicitly or implicitly.In fact, in different periods, the production of Anti-Japanese Warfilm has to repeatedly rewrite the history to align with the needs ofdifferent ideologies. The same is true to the New Term’s Anti-JapaneseWar film. Whether as a historical rewriting or commemoration ofancestors, it is closely connected with Chinese society and reality. What’smore, it exerts an important influence on the reconstruction of thenational memory and national image.From the perspective of historical writing and national image, in thelight of the change of social context, this thesis carries out an in-depthanalysis of about the New Term’s Anti-Japanese War film, profiling its artand cultural characteristics. Second, this thesis explores the films’complex relationship with the ethos, political context and film ecology atthat time. Moreover, it reveals the fact that the Anti-Japanese War film, asa constructive cultural force, plays a unique role in reshaping the nationalmemory and national identity as well as promoting the process of China’s modernization.
