"Different water and soil raises different people." PingShan’s special naturalgeographical environment and artistic living environment has contributed to the artisticachievements of Sanni Yan’ folk singing. Yan Sanni, who was viewed as the mainrepresentative of Hirayama folk song and folk song of Hebei "Xintian You", has rich, diverse,different styles of improvised singing, Hirayama with rich local characteristics. Her singing isthe memories of an era. Some expressions of the rich life in the songs represent the intricateemotion of Pingshan’s working people. It also contains the hopes for better life in the future.This paper shows thorough analysis of Yan’s singing style and the local characteristicsof folk singing method, and the use of the essence of folk art to modern ethnic vocal music,helping more people in better understanding the essence of old folk art. This paper can beroughly divided into three main sections:First part: Yan’s living environment and profiles. Yan’s improvised singing and specialacting style was under the influence of various factors, which was evolved over a long periodof development. This chapter begins by brief introduction of Yan’s art career, which creates apreliminary understanding of her; then proceeds with the living environment, which are,historical factors, geographical factors, human factors, further, which illustrate Yan’sbackground in formatting of the art of singing.Second part: The artistic features of Yan’s songs. Her folk song are in different literaturestyle, primarily in Shange, Xiaodiao, as a result of the Pingshan special geographical location.Folk songs characterized in the fusion of Shange and Xiaodiao. The folk song theme involvesdifferent level of living environment, and the content is rich and diverse. Through the analysisof the scales in melody, rhythm metre, interval and sentence structure of the Folk melody andthe lyrics which involves unique local language, we can discuss the artistic characteristics andstyle features of Yan’s work.Third Part: The analysis of Yan’s singing style. In this chapter, we evaluate the rich localcolor of Yan’s singing style, with the analysis of the singing feature, especially from thebreath, resonance, and the articulation technique, and take a further analysis on Yan’s traditional singing style. Because Yan’s folk singing was influenced by the Shanxi Jin Operaand Hebei Bang Opera, Yan;s singing style and singing method absorbed the essence of localoperas, and she had used in actual singing, in which formed a unique singing technique duringlong period of practice. There are five method of singing techniques: Pingqiang, Aiqiang,Huayin, Yiyin, and Zhisheng. The nature singing technique and rich singing method fromancient singers had created precious culture heritage for us. Only if you take a further stepinto the culture of the folk art, you shall experience the extensive national culture of ours.Through the combination of Yan’s folk singing and the contemporary vocal, and the inheritand carry forward of Yan’s folk singing style, we could improve the development ofcontemporary vocal, and also learn from the essence and inherit the culture of folk music.Through the collection of Yan’s related information (articles, videos, and opern), theorganizing, allocating, and combining of existing information on hand, and the analysis ofrelated books, research papers, we can have a better understanding on Yan’s artistic style.Moreover, through caifeng, interviews which has taken account of the reality, we shall accessto an enrichment in theory, therefore conclude the advancement of theory that we have learntfrom Yan’s art of singing.
