Although Lao She is "went halfway" in drama writing, he also has good playworks, such as The Teahouse, Long Xu Gou. These plays added dazzling rays of lightfor Chinese dramatic world. But the Chinese theoretical circle which is on the studyof Lao she’s drama is weak. And even if there is some related drama study, it is only toThe Teahouse. It is rare for the realistic themes of the study.Based on the previous the author does the research of Lao She’s drama on therealistic themes after the founding of the People’s Republic of China and analyzes theshortcomings of his realistic themes in drama, This paper will be divided into fourchapters. The preface part mainly looks back the related issues of the study and thesignificance of this topic.The first chapter mainly expounds Lao she’s creation after the founding of thePeople’s Republic of China of the drama which includes the realistic themes dramaand historical document drama. And it digs the conflicts between the differences ofthese two themes. At the same time it also puts forward the shortcoming of Lao She’srealistic themes in the weakening of drama conflict and does the groundwork for thefollowing chapter.The second chapter basically analyzes the form of the conflict of Lao She’srealistic themes in the drama. First the author compares the subject between Lao Sheand the contemporary writer. So it points that Lao She’s realistic themes deviated thesubject of "the class struggle", also it formed Lao She’s realistic themes of dramaconflict--" as a background of major contradiction" and,"the small conflict of people’sdaily life ". Combined with the text the author analyzes and researches the two aspectsof Lao She’s realistic themes of the contradictions in the drama composition.The third chapter basically analyzes the expression form of Lao she’s realisticthemes in the drama conflict "from strong gradually to weak". In fang zhen zhu, LongXu Gou and The Family the first act of the conflict is often strong but after a few ofthe conflict it shows slightly weakening which makes the overall sense of dramaconflict is not strong. The fourth chapter mainly points out the reason which influences Lao She’sdrama writing according to the shortcoming of his realistic themes. This chapteranalyzes it mainly from the following two aspects: the restriction to the writersbecause of the literary policy and the thought inertia of Lao She’s drama creation. Soit explains the shortcoming of Lao She’s realistic themes in the weakening of dramaconflict reasonably.
